On today’s episode of ASUU vs FG we will be discussing the latest ASUU update “Strike Continues Despite FG Agreement with ASUU.”
Not long ago, we heard that the FG and ASUU have reached an agreement and as a result the ongoing strike will be called off very soon.
Well, with the latest development, I honestly don’t think things will be sorted out real quick as they appear.
If you are one of those candidates always searching for:
- ASUU 2020 update
- Latest ASUU update
- ASUU strike updates
- When will the ongoing strike be called off?
- Has ASUU Strike been Postponed Indefinitely?
then this article, “ASUU Strike Continues Despite FG Agreement with ASUU for you.”
This is to notify the general public that the ongoing ASUU strike will continue despite agreement with FG.
Naijaschoolz was meant to understand that there was an agreement between ASUU and FG. Part of the agreement was that the lecturers will receive their salaries for the months of February and March.
The FG agreed to pay lecturers their salaries for the months of February and March. However there’s a condition attached to this.
The condition is that all the lecturers will submit their BVN (Bank verification number).
ASUU chairman did not welcome this idea and insisted the FG should pay them exactly the same way they have been doing it.
The president of ASUU in his words said, “Our members weren’t paid with BVN in the past. Why the sudden change? They should go back to the old system which they have always used to pay.”
Let us not forget that the salaries were withheld on the grounds that ASUU refused to be paid through the IPPIS as directed by President Buhari.
What’s the latest development?
ASUU refused to welcome this idea of submitting BVN. This is probably because they believe it’s a plot by the FG. A plot to lure them into the IPPIS which they rejected initially.
As a result of the foregoing, the National president of ASUU, prof. Abiodun Ogunyemi maintained that lecturers will NOT resume work. He said that the ASUU strike wasn’t just about the IPPIS.
He stressed that the strike was not just about the integrated payroll and personnel information system (IPPIS).
According to an ASUU official who is part of the ASUU-IPPIS crisis, there will be a meeting between the FG and top officials once they release the withheld salaries.
What this means is that, payment of the withheld salaries is just the first step towards the dialogue between ASUU and FG.
In conclusion, the ASUU strike is still on. The strike is not off and there’s no fixed date for the strike to be called off.
We really hope to get a good news after the dialogue between FG nd ASUU. Until then, stay safe and don’t forget to maintain the social distancing.
This is all we have for you on the latest update from ASUU.
